Paul Smith of FH Brundle describes the history of one of the most versatile and widely used products in our industry.

I bet you didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the history of the grid.

It is unlikely to make you or almost anyone a particularly interesting topic. In fact, it seems to be one of those things that have always existed.

But, like every product, it has an origin—and it only exists under the drive and determination of passionate inventors and entrepreneurs.

Where does the grid journey begin? In the United States, at the end of the nineteenth century.

Throughout the 1800s, the Industrial Revolution fundamentally changed the way millions of people lived and worked.

It overturned traditional construction and manufacturing methods. The world of wood, horsepower, and small cottage industries was replaced by huge factories and mass-produced steel.

But it wasn't until 1889, in Worcester, Massachusetts, that anyone wanted to apply for a patent for a machine that welded steel into wire sheets.

Think about "metal", your first thought may be its most impressive heavy-duty applications-industrial machinery, high-rise buildings, and even warship hulls.

But inventor John Perry can see its great potential in other areas. By turning it into thin wires, he can create extremely versatile steel fences suitable for various industrial, agricultural and domestic environments.

Wire mesh has become very popular all over the world-it is strong, economical, and extremely fast and easy to install.

Unfortunately, the market at the time was not ready for his innovation. He obtained a patent for his panel manufacturing machine, but the demand was limited, and he continued to use it for other purposes.

Later, a Hans Lechtenbohmer (Hans Lechtenbohmer) used wire mesh gloves in Germany-but there were also challenges.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Hans began to manufacture his own mesh panels, but the installers at the time were not keen on them—they said his products were too expensive and too heavy to install easily.

But Hans was not deterred. First, he started to install the existing panels himself. Later, he developed a new design to deal with installers' complaints, making the panels lighter and more competitive.

However, Hans will not continue to market his new and improved panels on his own. The product consists of a single panel reinforced with a V-shaped profile, at the risk of competing with some of his other products-so he transferred the license to another manufacturer.

By the 1990s, the use of mesh cloth was very common-this material was highly regarded for its versatility. It can certainly provide feasible barriers to help protect public buildings or private places.

It is also widely used in construction, civil engineering and transportation, as well as construction applications such as sidewalks, railing infill panels, cladding or gabion baskets.

But it also applies to more creative applications. It can be used to protect walls and other stronger structures from graffiti. It can be used as a trellis for planting vines and hedges-even the company's company colors can be used to complete the brand promotion.

In the decades since, the use of wire mesh has rapidly increased worldwide, as are the various mesh products that are now available.

Today, at FH Brundle, we are the leading welded wire mesh supplier in the UK, providing wire mesh products suitable for a large number of home and industrial environments.

In the workshop or factory, the mesh can be used for window grilles or mechanical protection, for example, in the warehouse, it can be used for shelf, storage and anti-collapse mesh.

Homeowners can use it in their gardens to grow plants and vines, or make animal enclosures for birds, rabbits and dogs. In the aquaculture industry, feed rack systems, breeding cages, etc. are usually constructed with welded mesh.

The range includes light-duty welded mesh rolls, heavy-duty industrial wire mesh panels, self-color mesh, grade 304 stainless steel welded mesh, grade 316 stainless steel welded mesh and PVC welded mesh, and now even black PPC, we are confident that we can meet almost any wire mesh Require.

In addition, we also provide reinforced mesh and metal wire fabric for concrete, as well as a series of mesh clamps, and provide welded mesh "cut to size service".

120 years since it was first invented, Mesh has been as useful as ever-if you want a series of outstanding products backed by top-notch service, please contact FH Brundle immediately.
