Highlights of the 2021 Frieze Masters

I like the way Frieze London aims to showcase some of the past works, which retain their influence and inspiration. Even if the contemporary art world promises to break new ground, one can still see how the masters of the past continue to shape today's artistic expression.

I chose four artists, and their works at Frieze Masters gave me special inspiration. All this is to give everyone a glimpse of everything in Regent's Park this fall.

When I found that I was not facing one but two unnamed Picassos, the title of the exhibition fit its description. They don't really need a name, because they will immediately show who created them and what each is. These eye-catching images capture human figures in a typical Picasso style, and there are many things to consider. The large, soft-colored films are full of vitality; a closer look reveals the skill and dexterity involved in the work. Although these second works from 1972 have a pure form like a sketch, the dates are applied in a bold graffiti style.

Alexander Calder is one of my favorite artists, so I am very happy to see two of his works on Frieze Masters. "Painted Sheet Metal" is a fascinating work with a perfect combination of shape, texture and flow. I really like the way you can appreciate another dimension of it, its shadow falls on the pure white base.

"Black perforated black boomerang" deserves to be described in capital letters. The combination of black boomerang and red base is so natural, I like the delicateness and delicateness of the feet. It was as if the boomerang had just been caught on the fingertips.

You will definitely see bold colors in Peter Lanyon's "Rising Air". His color blocks and swirls attract eyeballs around the canvas, and the overall feeling is big, bold and beautiful. The elements of the work are almost translucent. Long after the artist left us, it is still full of vitality today.

In order to further enrich the palette used, in this year's Frieze Masters, Emilio Vedova has an important work "Emerging '82". Although some people murmured "that's not for me" in a hurry, I did feel the connection with this job. It has a real sense of presence and smooth expression. I can feel the power of the artist's intention and feel that he wants to create something with lasting power. When I leave work, I know it will stay with me.
