Texas Governor Greg Abbott said border officials are laying "miles of barbed wire" to increase security because of reports of immigrant caravans approaching.

In an interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling The Balance, Abbott stated that the state has deployed “thousands” of National Guard soldiers and agents of the Texas Department of Public Safety who are currently “setting the border” and Use large containers to block areas where immigrants may try to enter the country illegally.

"They spread miles of barbed wire on the barbed wire," Abbott said.

"This afternoon, they will put down some of the large containers you saw on the 18-wheeler, the same type of containers you saw on the ship, to block the border. We are determining the most likely place where people might come to cross the border. And do everything possible to ensure the safety of these areas."

According to reports, a few days ago, a large group of immigrants were departing from Mexico City to the border.

Abbott also claimed that Texas is "building its own border wall" and that this work will begin within the next two months. The governor said that Texas has re-appropriated more than $3 billion in state taxes to ensure its border security.

"These are the money of Texas taxpayers who are doing federal work," Abbott said.

"But listen, we have to do this. We have to strengthen. We have to make sure our borders are safe, and the federal government gives the thumbs up.

"Elections have consequences, and we see the consequences of Biden becoming the president of the United States. We need to change the government because it is devastating for the United States," Abbott added.

Former President Donald Trump will build a wall across the U.S.-Mexico border as one of his main presidential campaign promises, even though it was never close to completion in the end.

On his first day in office, Joe Biden signed an executive order to suspend the construction of the separation wall, stating that the construction of a “large-scale separation wall across the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution” and a “wasting of money”.

Biden also canceled many of Trump's immigration policies in favor of what he called more humane procedures.

Since he took office, the number of people detained at the US-Mexico border has hit a record high.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, more than 1.7 million immigrants have been arrested on the southern border in the past 12 months-the highest number on record and a breakthrough of 1.6 million since 2000 The high position.

Some conservatives used the border crisis to criticize Biden, and public opinion polls also showed that voters thought that his way of handling the problem was inappropriate.

In March of this year, Abbott wrote to Biden asking for a solution to the "humanitarian crisis" at the border.
