Fractal Design Torrent Black RGB TG Review-Introduction

The Fractal Design Torrent Black RGB TG review is very different, very cool and very loud

Many people will be familiar with Fractal Design, especially as a manufacturer of high-quality and well-designed cases. In addition to modernizing classic products such as Define, the company has been experimenting with new design concepts, such as Torrent, to understand what works best.

Meet the torrent; a very different type of PC case from what we are used to seeing from Fractal Design, with a strong emphasis on airflow rather than quietness. The cooling performance is very satisfactory, and Torrent has the appropriate acoustic quality, as long as you do not run the five fans (at high RPM) that come with your computer to their maximum capacity. In addition to Torrent Black, Grey and White, Fractal Design Torrent also provides Torrent White versions. Potential buyers can choose to choose a metal side panel or a moderately or basically colored glass panel on the left side of the chassis. There is also an RGB version available. Torrent Black is the inspiration for this design. It consists of dark glass panels on both sides and has five ARGB fans. The version we tested today has double-sided tempered glass (tinted). In terms of appearance, the appearance of the chassis is quite domineering, with prominent mesh panels on the front and glass panels on both sides. It is said that the tone of this model is very light, but it is actually very dark-I think the dark color will prevent you from seeing most of the contents at all. The decision to move the PSU mount to the top of the cabinet will be considered a controversial decision, but you will see for yourself that it has a major impact on the airflow and cooling performance of the Torrent.

The torrent fan hub is recalled

Soon after the public release, Fractal Design temporarily stopped the sale of Torrent cases to ensure that the defect of replacing the fan HUB was eliminated. The users of the torrent case are advised to disable the fan hub because a short circuit may occur. We tested the updated model, using the revised fan hub, and the product is currently shipping. Those who are not aware of this problem, please look here and order a replacement HUB (free of charge).

Fractal Style’s Torrent RGB ($189.99) has an eye-catching design, and we can’t help but like it in various ways. The internal structure of the chassis allows for the simple assembly or update of systems centered on full-size or larger motherboards. If it were not for the plastic front panel and top panel, and the high price, we would now see the perfect large ATX or extended ATX (E-ATX) chassis. Unfortunately, the main part of the Torrent RGB body is made entirely of plastic, which makes the case look much cheaper than its close to $200 price.

There are some differences between Torrent and other types of houses; Torrent is designed to maximize airflow and has a fairly open front. Compared with almost all other cases, Fractal Design chose to place the power supply on the top of the enclosure instead of placing it on the bottom as usual. This is done to provide a place for the fan at the bottom of the case, which will allow the air not only to circulate from front to back, but also from bottom to top. In addition to Torrent, Fractal Design also introduced two new fans: Prisma ARGB PWM and Dynamic X2 PWM, both of which provide 140 mm and 180 mm sizes, respectively, from Fractal Design. They are equipped with two huge 180mm units on the front of the housing, one for the RGB version of Torrent, and the other for the version without RGB lighting, that is, the RGB version of Torrent. Three 140 mm fans are located at the bottom of the chassis. Yes, all of this is a little...different.
